One of the goals of the 12for12k Challenge is to involve our supporters as much as possible. After all, we couldn’t make any of it work if it wasn’t for you guys!
This is why we’ve set up this Blogger Resource for anyone that wishes to be an official 12for12k Blog Partner. So, what does this all mean and how can you get involved?
- Who can be a 12for12k Blog Partner?
The simple answer is anyone! You don’t have to be an A-list blogger with a Google Page Rank of 9, or an off-the-wall Alexa rating, or so many thousand subscribers. 12for12k is about everyday people like you and me making a difference. If you have a blog, you can be a 12for12k Blog Partner (there are certain restrictions, though). - What are the restrictions?
While anyone can be a 12for12k Blog Partner, there are some areas that we don’t approve. Any blog that condones race hate, is graphically sexual/pornographic or promotes any kind of abuse to people or animals will not be considered. - What do you expect of a 12for12k blog partner?
The main thing we ask is that you write at least one post a month (which can simply be to announce the new charity). Of course, if you want to write more, we’re more than happy for you to do that as well! Also, when you write a post, please link back to the main 12for12k site, or the specific cause for that month (trackback URL’s will be provided). - What can the posts be about?
Your blog post can be about anything you choose, as long as it’s relevant to the charity itself. Perhaps you have a personal interest in the charity, or you know someone affected by the charity’s cause? People relate to stories that affect them and their community. As bloggers ourselves we know this, which is why we want you to continue to use your own voice when writing about our charity for the month. - Do I just post on my blog? It’s up to you. Obviously that’s where your main voice is and we’ll support and promote you there. But as a 12for12k Blog Partner, you can also have an account here and post other features directly to the 12for12k blog if you wish. Contact us for more details.
- What kind of exposure will my post receive?
When you post, let us know about it! We’ll then share it on Twitter, Facebook (or Youtube if it’s a video blog) as well as post a link on the Blog Partner Posts page. If you follow us on Twitter, either DM us the link or use the #12for12k hashtag when you tweet about your post, and we’ll pick it up and retweet to our network and their followers (upwards of more than 200,000 people combined). - Do 12for12k Blog Partners get any swag?
Yes. Thanks to one of 12for12k’s latest partners, every single blog partner will receive a very special premium WordPress theme for free (as well as future updates to it). This needs to be on a self-hosted WordPress blog, so if you’re already on that platform, cool. If not (but you were thinking of upgrading), let us know and we’ll help with the switch as well! We also have some special “goodies” planned for the end of the year – stay tuned! - How do I become a 12for12k Blog Partner?
Simply email our Blogger Outreach partner Sarah Robinson directly with the message header “12for12k Blog Partner”. Include your blog’s URL and a little about yourself, as well as any custom logo you’d like us to use. We’ll get back to you confirming you’re live on our Blog Partner page. Then copy the code for the 12for12k Blog Partner badge and place on your blog – if you’re unsure how to do this, just holler to us!
To display the 12for12k Blog Partner badge, simply copy-paste the HTML code below and upload to your blog sidebar as normal.
This is usually via a text widget if using WordPress or a text box on most other platforms. If you know HTML coding you can place directly into your theme.
